Biography
Based in Melbourne Australia, The Australian Showband is a subsidiary of the Australian Pops Orchestra and is Australia's finest exponent of big band music. The Australian Showband is the ultimate band of choice for larger and gala functions and events. Sized from 10 to 20 piece, the band plays music from the 30’s right up to current dance music.
The Australian Showband has backed many local and international artists including Peter Allen, John Denver, Linda Ronstadt and Nelson Riddle, Diana Trask, The Four Tops, The Temptations, James Morrison, Normie Rowe, Denise Drysdale, Jacki Love, Rhonda Burchmore and were the band of choice for both the The Ultimate Rock Symphony and Jerry Lewis to name just a few.
In 2003, The Australian Showband played shows for the Victorian Arts Centre (“An Afternoon With Doris”, New Years Eve and Morning Melodies), the opening of the movie “Ned Kelly”, Secbrek at Crown, and recorded tracks for the soundtracks of Network 10’s “After the Deluge” and the feature film “Strange Bedfellows”.
Due to their extensive library of music, they are able to play music in keeping with any theme. The Australian Showband has played for many award nights and the list of corporate clients is also considerable.
