With a tightly knit ensemble of talented dancers, aerialists and improvisors, Strange Fruit can create a huge variety of performances and events using anything from 2 to 20 performers. Taking themes and design concepts to create costumes, choreography and soundtracks that will inspire guests and clients, leaving a lasting impression. Strange Fruit has extensive knowledge and experience in production and logistics, having presented its work in over 30 countries.

the field
Strange Fruit’s first production, The Field, was created for the Melbourne Festival in October 1994 and remains in the company’s current repertoire. It is a universal tale of love and humanity told through a series of stunning visual and choreographic images. It has been seen in a total of 35 countries, with appearances in London, Paris, Rome, Moscow, Shanghai, Tokyo, Montreal, Mexico City and Caracas. Closer to home it has had seasons in Sydney, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Mildura and Shepparton.
The Field is a 45 minute show for 8 performers and a touring party of 10.
swoon!
Swoon! was created in mid-1999. It is essentially an abridged version of The Field with a cast of 4 and a duration of 20 minutes. It premiered for the Daidogei Cup in Shizuoka, Japan. It has returned to Japan 4 times since and toured to Canada, Spain, France, Germany, Singapore and a number of Australian regional festivals.
Swoon! is a 25 minute show for 4 performers and a touring party of 5.
the spheres
The Spheres premiered for the Melbourne Moomba Festival in March 2001. It is a 50-minute performance for a cast of 7 designed specifically for nighttime presentation. Its 7 characters emerge from large, luminous orbs and take the audience through an enchanting and poetic universe. It has toured Europe 5 times as well as Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. The Spheres has only been seen within Australia in Melbourne and Adelaide.
The Spheres is a 50 minute show for 7 performers and a touring party of 10.
cupidity
Cupidity premiered in Melbourne in May 2004 and is the company’s first children’s show. It portrays 2 large dolls, Cupid 1 and Cupid 2 who have a routine to perform at the fair. When one rebels, a conflict erupts - but all is resolved in a truly heart-felt way.
Cupidity is a 25 minute show for 2 performers and a touring party of 4.
the three belles
The Three Belles premiered for the Melbourne Flower Show in 2004. Seductive and charming, The Three Belles transport the audience into a dreamy world of period charm and quirky manners. Mannered and graceful, the characters are destined to eternally relive the enchanting night of their first ball. With an unearthly soundscape that uses haunting music of strings, galloping horses, the sitar and the Wedding march.
The Three Belles is a 20 minute show for 3 performers and a touring party of 4.

Strange Fruit can also create works for one-off events and high profile openings. Examples from the past include a segment in the Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony in October 2003 and the Moonee Valley River Spectacular in February 2002.
