Event: Wesfarmer's 'Asian Emerging Markets' Dinner
Venue: Showtime Events Centre
Date: 11th September 2012
Allegro was delighted to work alongside Jack Morton to create an ‘Asian emerging markets’ themed event for Wesfarmers. Four hundred guests from around the country enjoyed an exciting and interactive evening in Melbourne, indulging in first class hospitality and entertainment. Guests were led in groups from Crown Metropol, where they were staying, to Showtime Events Centre, where they would spend the rest of the evening. As guests began their short journey, they were accompanied by some traditional Indian dhol players whose noisy and energetic performance attracted much attention from other passersby! Further along, guests passed by Chinese ribbon twirler, Lee, who weaved her magic through the crowd and injected some Chinese influence into the initial part of the evening. To continue the street market style of entertainment, guests then passed by Kotek, a traditional Indonesian duo performing on two gamelans. Once guests arrived at Showtime they were greeted by an amazing Lion Dance performance complete with dancers and percussionists. Once in the venue, guests visited Allegro’s Chinese calligraphist to receive their name written in Chinese characters and enjoyed traditional music from the Indian Connection trio. The room was brilliantly themed and the food stations offered all sorts of Asian cuisine, with all guests thoroughly enjoying themselves on a beautiful Melbourne night.
Event: The SKILLED Group Awards Dinner
Venue: The Park Hyatt, Melbourne
Date: 11th September 2012
Allegro was honoured to manage, from initial conception to final execution, SKILLED's annual awards night. This was an extremely important event for the workforce services company, who wanted to take the time to reward the exceptional achievements of certain staff members. Allegro created a beautiful black tie evening with an emphasis on ensuring the award nominees felt special and all guests, flown in from around Australia, enjoyed themselves. The room was themed in the SKILLED colours of blue and yellow, with a nod towards to construction and engineering side of the business. Guests walked past SKILLED's custom branded ute and arrived via a blue carpet, lit with the SKILLED logo, and entered the ballroom through pieces of scaffolding. Once inside the room, guests were seated at tables adorned with a mini construction site as a centrepiece and yellow buckets with chocolate tools at each place setting. Everything was custom made for the event and certainly offered a quirky and unique talking point! Channel Nine News sports presenter, Tony Jones, was the MC for the night and AFL coach and ex-player, Kevin Sheedy addressed the crowd in a Q & A session. Guests were also treated to a fantastic performance by legendary Australian musician James Reyne - a definite highlight. DJ Ash-Lee provided all the other music throughout the evening, keeping things flowing smoothly. Guests said it was one of the best events they have attended and one of SKILLED's executive board members exclaimed 'you and your team deserve a medal for putting together such a wonderful night.
Event: 'Back to Nature' Themed 21st Birthday
Venue: Private Home
Date: March, 2012
This family has been a long term client of Allegro's, so when it came to the eldest child's 21st birthday party, we were delighted to be called upon to create an unforgettable celebration. The theme was 'Back to Nature' and the client wanted the setting and music to be reminiscent of Earthcore - an outdoor dance and electronic music festival. Definitely a unique request for Allegro! The brief was followed early on, with the invitations sent out containing individually packaged seeds in recycled paper. The client's house was transformed for the occasion - the area in front of the house was levelled using staging pieces to create a flat platform that was be covered in living turf. Large beanbags, wooden bench seats and single ottomans were scattered throughout the space, tree stumps were used as coffee tables and purple and blue flowers in rusted tins decorated the area. An amazing tie died purple canopy encased the whole area - and provided much needed shelter when the rains started! Guests feasted on a gourmet BBQ which ran all day and enjoyed personalised cocktails from a custom made bar. DJ Ash Lee played upbeat tracks early on and was followed by DJ Ben, who performed trance and electronic music into the night. The party was a great success, if the text from the birthday girl the next morning was anything to go by - "Thank you so much, again! The party would not have been possible without you!!"
Event: Heather and Andre's Wedding
Venue: The Deck and Circa at The Prince, St Kilda
Date: August, 2011
So, when you’re the director of an events and entertainment agency and you have helped hundreds of brides create their own dream wedding…what do you choose to do when it’s your turn? Take a look at these stunning photos and you will see! The wedding of Heather and Andre was a stylish and stunning affair and unsurprisingly, there was a strong focus on the entertainment throughout the entire celebration. The evening began with a casual yet sentimental ceremony on The Deck, upstairs at The Prince in St Kilda. A beautiful string trio performed during the ceremony and a romantic duet was sung by soprano Judith Dodsworth and baritone Paul Hughes to conclude the formalities. After the ceremony, wedding guests were then ushered downstairs to Circa where DJ Alex Jack was performing alongside talented pianist, Mark Fitzgibbon, delivering a selection of chill out and jazz inspired grooves. As the night continued, Alex was joined by some live instrumentalists including a saxophonist and percussionist, and the fabulous Miss P on vocals. The tempo was lifted with the addition of these musicians, and remixing live, the crowd danced to re-invented classic 70s disco tracks, 80s anthems and funky house. Throughout the celebration, talented artist Samantha Lord captured the event on canvas - setting up her easel and painting the event as it happened. A brilliant creation unfolded over the course of the evening, and the couple were presented with a stunning and original painting as a memento of their special day.
Event: 'Streets of Melbourne' 50th Birthday Celebration
Venue: The Melbourne Museum
Date: February, 2011
What better way to celebrate the great city of Melbourne than to replicate it all under the one roof?! That's what one of Allegro's clients did to celebrate his 50th birthday and we were honoured to be able to help put together this great concept! As guests entered The Melbourne Museum, they were greeted by the smooth, jazzy tunes of the Frank Benedetto Trio - who serenaded guests in the lounge area for the first hour. After settling in, an announcement was made and the fabulous 'Streets of Melbourne' were revealed. Casino tables with professional croupiers formed Crown Casino, guests playing with personalised money they received at the beginning of the night. Lee, our Chinese ribbon dancer and plate spinner, roved through Chinatown whilst guests enjoyed their suckling pig and fortune cookies. Others sipped on espressos and helped themselves to antipasto platters whilst wandering through Little Italy. The kids loved St Kilda with the carnival rides and laughing clowns, fairy floss machine and a roving magician who entertained guests with close up magic and balloon animals. The soundtrack to the night was provided by the brilliant DJ Ryan and there was certainly a place for everyone!
