Tony Bramwell Add to Shortlist
Let's hear from Tony Bramwell himself:
" . . . (I've been a) freelance caricaturist for a long time. Have grey hair to prove this. Work mainly in corporate events, golf days, parties, seminars, or any other happening where people want funny drawings. Published work in Australian Baseball Magazine, National Australia Bank training manuals, Hacker Golf Magazine. I do black and white stuff for greeting cards, websites, business stationery, and specialise in full colour poster size gift drawings, framed and ready to give, and very nice they are too, even if I do say so.
"My drawing influences are Weg (everyone knows Weg), Lionel Coventry and Jack Davis (who are not so well-known here). I am a foundation member of The Mug Club, a caricaturists’ group founded in Melbourne, and currently hold the dubious honour of No. 2 Mug…Weg is No. 1.
"I draw approximately 15 to 20 people per hour with the wind behind me, depending on how they approach me... I don’t take breaks when I’m working and don’t drink on the job. I work standing up at a flip chart easel and my work is usually around poster size, finished in markers with a smidgeon of colour thrown in (depending on how many smidgeons I take with me).
"I have a minimum of two hours per job, that is to say my bill will be for a minimum of two hours even when the job is smaller than that, but I don’t work strictly to the clock, and I will always give a little more than the client is paying for (my rules).
"Some of my key clients who have used me for years: Flag Hotels, Pleasure Boat Cruises, Chifley Hotel, Whittlesea Show Committee, Hacker Golf."
