DJ Ryan is, first and foremost, a musician. A trained jazz guitarist and graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, DJ Ryan blends genres and eras with ease. He is equally comfortable mixing in your favourite retro gems with current cutting-edge electronica or improvising with live musicians to create a truly unique sound for your event.

DJ Ryan has been writing and producing music for over a decade. In this time he has been Unearthed by Triple J radio, featured on electronic music compilations in the UK (Grow Your Own Records) and the US, and was the recipient of Arts Victoria funding to run new media projects in Victorian schools. In 2000, Ryan was commissioned to compose a theme song for the Sydney Olympics. On the back of this success, he went on to compose for many stage performances and several film scores.

DJ Ryan began his disc jockey career whilst living in Japan. As a core member of Kansai Collective, featuring disc jockeys and musicians from UK, USA, France and Japan, DJ Ryan hosted club and live events across Western Japan. Festival appearances at Kobe Jazz Street (2005), Takatsuki Festival (2006), Caligula (2006) and a residency at Osaka's premier soul revival club 'Savannah' brought him the opportunity to play a late night slot at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival. On the strength of this stint, DJ Ryan was invited to perform at an official Australian Embassy function in Paris alongside other upcoming Australian artists. 

Since returning to Melbourne in 2006, DJ Ryan has been working on a variety of projects that have incorporated sounds from around the globe.

From the latest releases to 30's swing jazz or deep house grooves? Funk classics or 80's hair rock? You choose the vibe and DJ Ryan will perform a set to match. No need to keep it in one box, as DJ Ryan mashes up genres and styles live to keep the dance floor moving.
